History

The Society of Registered Safety officers (SRSO) was established since1991 by a group of safety professionals & Officers from Labour Department who aimed to gather all Registered Safety Officers (RSO) under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (SafetyOfficers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, to further enhance the professional status of the RSOs in Hong Kong, and to promote Safety and Health across the industries.

 

The following safety professionals are the major founders of SRSO:

  • LEE Hung Kwong (Founder President)
  • MA Shi Hang
  • PANG Kwok Lam
  • Tong Chun Wah, Peter
  • TSE Chi Hing, Francis
  • TANG Siu Hung
  • CHAN Fai Hung, Andy
  • LI Siu Kai, Patrick

The main objectives of SRSO are:

  • To promote and improve the status and interest of all members;
  • To promote occupational safety and health, & environmental matters in Hong Kong.
  • To exchange views and knowledge on occupation safety and health, and environmental matters with members of the Society and outside related
  • To participate in the formulating of safety codes of practice.
  • To participate, monitor and take active roles in advising the Occupational Safety and Health Council, other health & safety organizations & interested parties on issues relevant to the profession of all members.
  • To strengthen the liaison in respect of occupational safety and health, and environmental matters with cities in the region.

In the past 25 years, the SRSO has made every effort to achieve its objectives by conducting various safety technical seminars and visits and participating in various external safety professional committees. The results achieved are encouraging and the number of members in the Society has exceeded 490 up to June 2016.
